Our Marketing Director Lucy French ran a Business Champions session at CJAM Group this month, designed to give each member of the team greater ownership of the business.
External and internal-facing elements of the business were identified and members of the team chosen to lead those areas. From establishing Communications and New Business Champions, to creating Guard Books and Office Environment Champions, this new initiative is designed to capture all the ‘wouldn’t it be nice if…’ ideas we have throughout the Quarter.
One of the most interesting areas given a Business Champion is the Skills Workshop. Across the team, we all have skills, talents and abilities that individually, we take for granted. In order to develop team members’ confidence in themselves, and train colleagues in everyday activities and procedures, skills workshops will be arranged, covering a broad range of business know-how and organisation practice. The idea of a Lunch ‘n’ Learn informally over a sandwich and a diet coke, means that skill sharing will happen naturally and easily, without too much agonising about diary dates or time management.
For example, the planning, negotiating, buying and scheduling of advertising – across outdoor, print, radio, digital and so on – is as normal as apple pie for the media team. For everyone else, it’s a closely-guarded secret to which only the elect may be initiated. By sharing the media buying process with the broader team, we shed light on a particular area of marketing and empower the whole business with a greater knowledge and understanding across all the marketing disciplines that we offer, which benefits the clients we work with.
Our Business Champion strategy has been developed to help the whole CJAM team engage more with the business. We have a brilliant group of people here and this is about sharing people’s areas of expertise and expanding its reach, to the benefit of the business and employees. In turn, this injects new energy, fresh thinking and an enthusiasm for work, which inevitably translates to added value for our clients, in terms of their expectations and our delivery.
If any of this has resonated with you, and you’d like to talk to us about your own internal communications, or would like the CJAM team to discuss a particular marketing need that you have, then get in touch with Lucy on lfrench@cjam.co.uk or call us on 01787 226995 #business #internalcomms #HR #creativity #marketing
