As October came to a close, the CJAM team arranged a successful visit to JCB’s site in Uttoxeter for Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) members. Some 20 people attended the tour, which was followed by the MHEA Annual General Meeting at the nearby Health House Conference Centre.
CJAM planned the visit from start to finish, running all aspects of the booking process and advertising the event online. The day began with a short video of the JCB story and opening remarks from JCB Chairman Lord Bamford. MHEA members then had the opportunity to visit the popular on-site exhibition comprising some of JCB’s earliest machines, where they also learnt about the history of the company’s founder, Joseph Cyril Bamford, and his descendents, who have continued the family business.
Attendees also visited the production area and shop floor, equipped with high vis jackets, protective eyewear and headphones, where they saw both robot machines and factory workers in action.
“We were delighted to run this highly informative trip on behalf of MHEA,” says Christine Joyce, CJAM’s Managing Director. “The trip was enjoyed by all who attended and gave MHEA members a great insight into the history and operations of one of the UK’s leading construction machinery manufacturers. It was the ideal event to lead into the association’s AGM and provided an interesting talking point for members throughout the day.”
