With new labels set to appear on tyres across Europe from 1st November 2012, CJAM has been busy creating a bank of engaging educational materials to help motorists get to grips with the new information on display. The tyre labels will feature three key measures, including wet braking performance, fuel efficiency and noise emission characteristics. Developed by the European Commission, the new labelling is intended to create greater transparency in the consumer tyre buying process and help motorists to make more informed choices when it comes to the safety and fuel economy of their tyres.
CJAM has created a compelling animation for TyreSafe, the UK’s leading tyre safety organisation, in support of the organisation’s drive to inform and educate consumers about the significance of the new tyre labels. Starring the McIntyres, TyreSafe’s family of crash test dummies, it explains in simple terms how the labels will help motorists navigate the numerous new tyres on the market to arrive at the safest, most fuel efficient option possible for their vehicle. Information leaflets will also be made available to UK drivers,
“Educating motorists on the value of the information displayed on the forthcoming tyre labels is an important task, particularly in terms of encouraging safer and more environmentally conscious driving,” comments Christine Joyce, Managing Director, CJAM Group. “We’re delighted to be involved in this project”.
The new materials were launched to a packed audience of tyre manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers, emergency service representatives and public sector bodies at the recent TyreSafe Industry Briefing. With more than 180 delegates and a highly interactive session, Christine Joyce is confident that the materials, as well as the important messages they contain, have been well received by the many UK companies and organisations involved in both tyre sales, public health and road safety.
“It’s a very promising start to what looks set to be a high profile campaign,” concludes Joyce. “With support from both the tyre industry and diverse governmental organisations, we hope to facilitate a strong understanding of the new tyre labelling system among motorists. The TyreSafe tyre labelling campaign is one of a number of exciting new initiatives from the organisation this year, and we look forward to applying our full expertise to ensuring each campaign is a success.”
