CJAM held a packed event to help raise awareness of Kennedy Montessori School’s bid to create a state-funded Montessori primary school in Colchester. Held at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, the ‘open day’ event provided an exciting opportunity for parents of prospective pupils to learn more about the benefits of Montessori education.
The CJAM team organised the event from start to finish, from booking the venue to creating colourful pop-ups and leaflets. We also helped on the day, welcoming visitors, guiding people to the main presentation and connecting them with Montessori teaching experts.
“We’re delighted to be helping Kennedy Montessori School with its bid to open a new school in the Colchester area,” says Christine Joyce, Managing Director, CJAM. “The open day was a great success and has generated a substantial amount of interest and enquiries. We’re now moving ahead with the next phase of our marketing activities, which will see us taking to the airwaves with an engaging radio campaign.”
As an official member of the Kennedy Montessori School team, Christine Joyce has created a marketing plan for the organisation, which has actively helped to secure funding from the New Schools Network (NSN). The funding will go towards designing and printing marketing materials, holding events and running media campaigns.
In order for the bid to be approved, Essex-born teacher Daniel Kennedy and his team must prove to the Department of Education that a need exists for an additional primary school in Colchester. Some 60 children must be registered for the first reception class in 2015, with another 60 committed to joining in 2016. If everything goes ahead, the school would open in 2015 and cater for more than 400 children. It would be located at the former Severalls Hospital site.
The aim of Montessori education is to inspire a love of learning among children. Lessons are less formally structured than traditional primary school lessons, the teacher is seen as the ‘facilitator’ of learning, and children of mixed ages learn together, either individually or in groups, following ‘hands on’ learning plans based on their individual needs.
We’ll keep you posted on the radio day! Meanwhile, parents interested in registering their child for the Kennedy Montessori School should visit http://www.kmscolchester.org.uk/.
